about

‘İçimize Doğru’, is the story of a person’s journey toward their essence.

The album aims to remember and remind of the power of our emotions, thoughts and vulnerability, as well as the wisdom in our roots and how we connect to it.

It carries traces from the stories of people who had the courage to face their inner darkness and to take responsibility for their inner light.

Having started its journey through meditation, the album was enriched, deepened and intensified by the gifts it received from companions of the journey, together with ‘Ormanın Ruhu’, the meanings and inspiration that comes from the earth, fire and colors.

The songs that Öykü Aras unearthed from an internal and transparent place, transformed into their final expressions in the album thanks to the unique, fantastical and poetic style and arrangements of Şevket Akıncı.

The album was produced by collective effort of the main cast which include the production, arrangements and two compositions of Şevket Akıncı, as well as arrangements and unique contributions to all songs by Zeynep Oktar and Nihal Saruhanlı.

Ceyda Kurhan’s two poems turned into songs and Cansun Küçüktürk carried out the arrangement and mix of a song.
Other musicians took part in the making of the album are Ruşen Alkar, Hazal Döleneken, Cymin Samawatie, Can Ömer Uygan and Başak Yavuz.
The recordings and mixes were made in the BAU Studios by Barkın Engin and Burak Tamer executed the mastering.
The cover of the album showcasing the art piece by the artist Nazlı Gürlek Hodder called ‘Inside’ (İçeride), has a depth that embodies, carries and reflects the meanings uncovered by the album.
The artist describes her artwork as “a modest monument to all things inside full of light and glow.”

Öykü Aras’s first album ‘İçimize Doğru’, bears influence from many musical styles such as electronic music, ambient, free improvisation and minimalism.
